The Swatara Township Police Department has updated the Terms of Service on the department’s Facebook page.

We want to thank everyone for following and enjoying our posts.

TERMS OF USE:

1. All persons named on this site are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

2. An arrest is not an admission of guilt; only a court can make this decision.

3. Communications Posted by Visitors ARE NOT AUTHORIZED. Facebook users have posted material on this site that contains ethnic slurs or profanity; harassing, defamatory, fraudulent, misleading, misleading, discriminatory and/or sexually explicit material. Additionally, Facebook users posted comments unrelated to the original posts. In order to prevent the publication of this material and to make the Facebook page a useful tool for the department and the community, the Swatara Township Police Department has chosen to PROHIBIT ALL COMMENTS AND PUBLIC POSTING ON THIS SITE. Any visitor comments or posts that escape the Department’s attempts to ban public comments and posts will be promptly deleted, regardless of their content.

4. Visitors repeatedly attempting to post material falling into the above categories will be banned from viewing this community page.

Any advertisement appearing on the site is not controlled by the Municipality, officials or the Agency and any person representing these organizations and does not reflect the endorsement of any agent on their behalf by the Municipality, officials or the Agency and any person representing these organisations.

6. All postings attempted to be made by visitors to the site may be retained by the township, the police department and their officials, officers and employees and anyone representing such organizations, in its discretion and as required by law. or applicable policy.

7. All attempts at publication may be subject to the Pennsylvania Right to Know Act and other public records and disclosure laws, as well as discovery in the course of litigation. This includes, but is not limited to, information made available through a user’s privacy settings on personal social networks and other Internet pages.

8. Visitors to the site have no expectation of privacy or confidentiality in any content they attempt to post to the site, and the municipality, police department and their officials, agents and employees and anyone representing such organizations have no responsibility for maintaining such privacy or confidentiality.
